REFLECTION PAPER -2
Please read the following instructions carefully:
In this reflection paper, you have two options:

FIRST OPTION:

1.     Based on the readings, do you think the booklet (Between Yesterday and Today) by Hasan Al-Banna is a political or religious manifest? Briefly explain and give specific examples from the readings. Your answer should be at least 300 words.

2.     According to the Islamic Way of Life (Mawdudi - http://www.pdx.edu/sociologyofislam/islamic-political-thought), how do you define the Islamic Political System (State)?  Briefly explain and give specific examples from the readings. Your answer should be at least 300 words. 

3.     Based on two readings (“Islamic Way of Life” and “Mawdudi and the Transformation of Jama’at-e-Islami in Pakistan”), how do you categorize the Jama’at? Do you think the Jama’at is a Shari’a based party or market-oriented party? Please also try to explain how the Jama’at has transformed towards a Shari’a based party or market-oriented party - is this a historical transformation? Briefly explain and give specific examples from the readings. Your answer should be at least 400 words. 

4.     According to our readings, what are the similarities and differences between the Muslim Brotherhood, Jama’at-e-Islami and Tablighi Jamaat? Briefly explain and give specific examples from the readings. For this question, you can create a comparative chart. Your answer should be at least 400 words.

SECOND OPTION:
Please summarize the following readings (posted on google drive) and USE YOUR OWN WORDS. Your SUMMARY should be at least 1500 words:

In your answer, please do not use citation; use your own words, and do not copy from the Internet, the books conclusion, or from Wikipedia.   Email your paper to me as MS Word attachments by 12:00 Midnight, on next Tuesday night. PLEASE include Islamic Movements – Reflection Paper 1 in the subject line of your email, and send it to tugrulkeskin (at) t.shu.edu.cn
The reflection papers should be at least 1500 words. Font size should be Times New Roman, 12 point. You need to email me your reflection papers with Word document.
Criteria: If your paper is less than 1500 words, or late, you will loose 4 points.
