US without the authority of the Libyan government went into the country and kidnapped somebody - expert

The Voice of Russia - Thursday, October 10, 2013

Libyan PM Ali Zeidan has been seized from his hotel in the capital, Tripoli by a former rebel militia loosely allied to the government.

The Voice of Russia talked to Curtis Doebbler who is an international human rights lawyer and a peace activist, specializing on the Middle East. And let’s see if we can get some more inside on what’s happening in Libya.
Curtis, hello. Welcome to the program. And first of all do you have any more details on today’s arrest or kidnapping, whatever that was?
Certainly, it’s not clear what it is. And I think that’s indicative of the very unusual and strange situation in the country that has been caused by the interfering intervention in their country. The latest reports that are coming out said that PM Ali Zeidan is being held by his own government in the anti-crime department. But they’ve apparently arrested him for acting in a way, that harm the national interest. But it’s certainly a very unusual type of situation, one that would not normally happen in a country that has a situation of stability and respect for the rule of law.
Also in a recent interview with BBC Ali Zeidan urged the West to help stop militancy in Libya. He said that his country has been used as weapons’ base. Do you think, if he was abducted indeed? Do you think that has something to do with the abduction?
